Hi,
  Here's my intro:
  Sandy: Lady of a certain age.  Got a few degrees and looking to do a PH.D.  and wanting to know how she can rely upon the technology available.  Using the braille-note and technologically inept.  But makes up for it with zeal.  Ah! and I know politics don't come into these things, but am a bit of a socialist and so likes the whole notion of Linux.  Lastly, what I want from this group: Some info as to what Linux might have to offer me as a blind computer user and basically see myself as lurking (unashamedly) while you lot swap mnemonics, in the hope I glean something.
